Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This policy explains what information Receipt Vault handles, how, and your rights over it. It applies to the Receipt Vault iOS app and this website. By using Receipt Vault you confirm you have read and understood it.

2. Who We Are

Receipt Vault is published by Far Above Studios ("we", "us", "our"). All data you enter into the app stays on your device, so in practice you hold it and it never reaches us. We operate no servers and keep no copy of your receipts or any personal data. Payments and your Premium unlock are handled by Apple through the App Store under Apple's own privacy policy.

3. Information We Handle

3.1 Receipt content (on your device)

Photos you capture and the details recognised or entered — merchant, total, date, category, line items, notes and tags — are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app removes this local data.

3.2 Purchase information

When you buy the one-time Premium unlock, Apple processes the payment and records your purchase against your Apple Account. The app confirms your entitlement directly with the App Store on your device — we run no server and never receive or store your transaction details, name, email or payment information. If you reinstall or change device, "Restore Purchases" re-checks your entitlement with Apple.

3.3 Diagnostics

The app includes no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Apple may share aggregate, anonymous crash and usage statistics with us if you have opted in to sharing these with developers in your device settings.

4. On-Device Processing

Reading the merchant, total and line items from a receipt is performed on your device using Apple's on-device frameworks. Your receipt images are not uploaded to be processed.

5. How We Use Information

Information is used only on your device — to recognise and organise your receipts and to generate the exports and reports you ask for. Unlocking Premium is handled by Apple. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising, and because nothing reaches us there is no data for us to share.

6. No Cloud, No Account

Receipt Vault does not require an account and does not upload your receipts anywhere. There is no online sync and no cloud backup — your data lives only on your device. To keep a copy elsewhere, use the app's Export (CSV or, with Premium, PDF), which creates a file you can save or share wherever you choose. Any exported file is then handled by whatever service you send it to, under that service's terms.

7. Third Parties

Apple processes payments and provides the App Store, under Apple's own privacy policy. That is the only third party involved in running Receipt Vault — we operate no servers of our own and use no analytics providers, advertising networks or data brokers.

8. Payments

All payments are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your card or payment details.

9. Retention & Deletion

On-device data stays until you delete individual receipts or remove the app; deleting the app removes it. We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf. Your Premium purchase is recorded by Apple against your Apple Account under Apple's terms.

10. Security

Your data stays on your device, protected by iOS and your device passcode/biometrics. Because we operate no servers, there is no online store of your data to be breached. Files you export are only as private as the place you choose to send them. No system is perfectly secure, but keeping everything local removes most of the risk.

11. Your Rights

If you are in the UK or EU, you have rights under the UK GDPR / GDPR — to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to processing. Because all of your data is on your device, you can exercise these directly in the app: view, edit, export or delete your receipts at any time. For anything relating to your purchase, contact Apple. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

12. International Transfers

We operate no servers and transfer no data internationally. Your data stays on your device wherever you are. Payment processing is carried out by Apple under Apple's own infrastructure and terms.

13. Children

Receipt Vault is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

14. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, noted in the app.
